So it IS possible to activate the "jump start mode" without connection to a battery, as stated by others(e.g. yantochua9158, JayTee-e1i in YouTube video "JUMP STARTER WITH A SUPER CAPACITOR" about the Kroak unit). At 100%~97% charged state(regardless of charging input/method), power/display ON, and clamps cable disconnected(no battery connected), long pressing the power button for 10~15 seconds will "reboot" the unit into "jump start mode"(the "click" sound of the internal relay switching ON the output will be heard) followed by the 10 second beep countdown, then the long tone("BEEEEE") with ~14.7V-ish output (voltage would of course drop significantly if connected to an actual car/battery).
It would have been nice if my UTRAI X1's manual mentioned this "hidden feature" so I wouldn't have thought that the unit was faulty when tested for output voltage after charging with the 12V adapter / 5V USB-C inputs, without connecting to a battery using the clamps cable in which case there is no voltage output as the "jump start mode" is not triggered without the long pressing of the power button(while the unit is already ON) for a "reboot" into the "jump start mode".

Well, Veri Disuhpoyntid's observations are valid to a certian extent (when the X1 is NOT connected via the clamps to an actual battery), but I noticed that when the X1 IS connected to an actual battery via the clamps, the X1 DOES DISPLAY "- - -" after reaching 100%, after which a power button press activates the "output mode"(long tone after the 10 seconds of beeps), THEN there IS voltage(14.8V-ish) at the output.
Therefore the 12V(adapter input) and 5V USB-C inputs only seem to allow pre-charging to 100% and ONLY when the clamps are used and the X1 is connected to an actual battery does the X1 permit the "- - -" display and activation of the "output mode".
This should be mentioned in the user manual so that users don't get the impression that the device is faulty and talk sh※t or upload bad reviews (which cannot be deleted BTW). I'm sure Veri Disuhpoyntid would delete the negative review if it were possible on this site. But I must agree the scratches on the display as in Veri's photos (due to no protective film) on a "new" device is definitely a problem that needs to be addressed.
i haven't been able to check on an actual car yet hence my reserved rating of 3 stars. If the webmaster of this site makes it possible to update reviews I may update with a better rating later.

Dead On Arrival

NEVER displays "---" at 100% then goes down to 97% and back up to 100% but again NEVER displays "---" then repeats. NO VOLTAGE at OUTPUT (checked with multi-meter)! Scratches on display! UNBELIEVABLE... VERY DISAPPOINTED.
